Construction Progress: Week 5

Forget the whole second floor, y'all – I would like to draw your attention to those BLUE SKIES. We've had almost forty days and forty nights of rain here in DC, so it's so nice to see the sun! And also $200+ is too steep to see Taylor Swift at Nats Park, so instead you get house pictures.

They've cut out most of the windows, although there are a couple on the exterior side wall that are currently missing, so that's a little odd. (One of the nice perks of the end units is we get five extra windows, which is pretty awesome.) I guess maybe they need to ensure structural support before cutting out the bigger windows.

Since the Matisse in our development is part of a stacked townhouse, the next step is building out the Picasso model that sits on top.

  1. It's going up quickly! Looks like it's going to be a very nice neighborhood too.

  2. Thanks for sharing your experience. I will settle soon on my Matisse - just waiting for the final appraisal and work to be completed due to the independent home inspection - which is highly recommended!

    1. Thank you! Are you in the same subdivision? We completely agree about having an independent home inspection done; we're scheduling one for the pre-drywall stage and possibly pre-settlement. Neither of us knows anything about construction, so we want someone knowledgeable to check the work. Congratulations on settling!

    2. Yes. The same subdivision. Thank you. The inspection was done after the walkthrough was completed. However, the project manager and staff have worked to address my concerns and make the needed repairs prior to closing.

  3. Have you walked through it yet? I know they probably frown on it, but I couldn't help myself.

    1. Actually my husband took these photos -- he went out there without me because he's a professor so his summer schedule is super flexible -- and he is the instruction following half of our marriage. :) So, no. But I'm going to go out there this weekend, and I am for sure going to peek inside!
